What is a Dealer Special Caravan?

“Dealer Special” is a phrase you may often hear mentioned around the Caravan Industry, but what exactly is a Dealer Special? Keep reading to find out more… Essentially, it is a caravan designed and built exclusively by a caravan manufacturer for a chosen Retailer. The retailer will agree to order a certain volume of the product, and then will work closely with the manufacturer to design and create a totally unique version of one of their current caravan ranges. Here at Stowford we have two Dealer Special Caravan Ranges. We have our own Elddis Stowford Range as well as our own Bailey Stowford ST Range, so we can use these as examples of how this arrangement works. The Dealer Special Caravan will be based upon one of the manufacturers existing caravan ranges. In our case, our Bailey Stowford ST is based upon the Bailey Phoenix range of caravans, and our Elddis Stowford is based upon the 8ft wide Elddis Avante range. The caravan is then designed with a bespoke colour scheme, bespoke external graphics, a new model name and a host of features and upgrades that up-spec the caravan to make it a more desirable product than the standard caravan would normally be.

So why pay the extra for a Dealer Special?

Whilst they are inevitably priced slightly higher than the standard product, the price does not reflect the full value of all the extras, so they always represent good value for the customer – an up-spec’d caravan for less than its’ full retail value! Furthermore, a dealer special caravan is always valued higher than the standard product as a pre-owned vehicle, meaning that it will be worth more as a part exchange in the future!
